Adrian's Dish of the Month Archive

One of the most popular pages on my Hidden World of Adrian site is the Dish of the Month. Every month a collection of top notch pictures of a sexy celebrity hunk is presented for the enjoyment of my visitors.

Now on its fifteenth edition there have been so many great images that even this Archive cannot hope to store them all! So what I've tried to do is whittle down the list and put together a small (but perfectly formed!) selection of the very best moments from the past Dish of the Month pages. I hope that you enjoy these repeat showings as much as I do! In which case, of course, don't forget to vote for your favourite to make another appearance as Dish of the Month!

This was it! My very first 'dish', and what an excellent choice, so much so that he still figures at the top of the voting for a repeat appearance! Star of the short lived teen drama "My So-Called Life", where he played the enigmatic school hunk Jordan Catelano, Jared Leto is one seriously sexy young man. Since M.S-C.L, Jared has continued to wow us with appearances in major films as well as all the best magazines, and why not, this guy is simply gorgeous. Unfortunately the major Leto resource on the Web, "The Unofficial Jared Leto Homepage" recently shutdown, but the mightily impressive Jared Leto Webpage by Greta more than makes up.

Of all the actors I've admired, or lusted after, River Phoenix has a very special place in my heart, in my life. This young man somehow touched the lives of so many; more than just a cute boy actor or handsome young man, he conveyed a sensibility that reached the hearts of thousands, perhaps millions, of people.

For about the last four/five years, there has been one young actor who has quite simply stolen the role of Sex God and not let go. Stephen Dorff's appeal is manifold: firstly, physically, an incredibly beautiful young man; then there's that playful twinkle in his eye; and, perhaps most alluring the mean and moody look he cultivates. He may (according to some sources) be a grade one self-centred brat but baby; I don't care!

Unfortunately for his critics, this gorgeous fellow can actually act - maybe not a great actor, but he is certainly no "himbo". First seen by most people in "The Power of One" in which the young Stephen Dorff held the centre of the film magnificently. Since then a pretty ecletic choice of roles, from the Beatle bio-pic "Backbeat", the belligerent "S.F.W." to films about Andy Warhol and Space Pirates, show he's not afraid to run risks.

For the Archive I had to make the very difficult decision to restrict myself to just four scans, and with someone who looks so darn hot in practically every picture that was a real tough process. I hope that you approve of my selections! If you want more Dorff (I know I certainly would!) there is now (at last!) an unofficial fan page full of good stuff.

Sometimes you just have to admit that you're no different to anyone else, he may be an obvious, cliched choice but you simply cannot escape the fact that Brad Pitt is an incredibly good looking man!

He certainly is beautiful and he does, when given the opportunity, produce some impressive work, where he transcends the simple fact of his physical beauty, as in Interview With The Vampire and Legends Of The Fall, even in Sleepers. In these films, for example, he manages to portray that strange sense of empathy with those around him, while being somehow distant from the environment he finds himself in. It is perhaps that ability to portray the sympathetic outsider that really makes him attractive to me - and thousands of others! And, of course, the remarkable fact that however unattractive his characters may be he somehow always manages to look absolutely gorgeous!

Indeed he is such a popular figure that the sheer number of pictures of him that I've collected and scanned meant that I had to make him my first two page dish! Consequently I really couldn't reduce the Archive collection to less than six. So you can be sure that it won't be too long before Brad is seen again on Dish of the Month!

For my first dish of 1997, I chose a young man who had enjoyed an incredibly successful 1996 and then went on to become perhaps the hottest teen idol of 1997 (I'm far too modest to suggest that I had anything to do with that!!).

Following starring roles in the UK childrens' TV productions "Earthfasts" and "The Biz", he landed a plum role in the BBC's flagship drama serial "Eastenders". Already known to a few careful viewers, this handsome young man was suddenly propelled to national stardom as 'Mad Joe' Wicks. Despite the increasing unattractiveness of his character, without doubt the teen 'love god' of 1996/97 was Paul Nicholls.

Undeniably handsome, hence his appearance here, at only 18 he's still got a long way to go. It may be early days yet, but from the quality of his performances to date, he is someone we should keep an eye out for, there's every chance he could turn out to be major league actor.

1996 was a big year for Leonardo DiCaprio, taking on two major film projects, both confounding public and critics alike. "Total Eclipse", the story of the tormented poet Rimbaud, his tempestous and ultimately tragic relationship with Verlaine and "Romeo and Juliet", perhaps a slightly more conventional story of boy and girl in love, but hardly any more 'mainstream'. Both films demonstrate DiCaprio's penchant for the quirky and unusual. Having avoided the trap of TV mediocrity (viz "Growing Pains"), he has deliberately taken roles that stretch his abilities. With very few exceptions he has risen magnificently to each challenge, proving again and again that he is indeed a very talented young actor.

Though not really a sex symbol (not for me anyway) and despite the remarkable lack of obvious teen-idol movies, his boyish good looks still make him a popular pin-up, once again requiring two pages of images! You'll be able to find absolutely loads of pictures of Leonardo on the 'Net, but I'll recommend just two sites to get you going. Firstly, the always reliable Star Galaxy, which has one of the largest collection of scans, and then, if you want to know all there is to know about him, you should try The Leonardo DiCaprio Home Page.

After six months sticking to my unwritten rules, I broke with tradition for the seventh set, to feature not one but a bevy of beauties from 'Down Under'. Not having quite enough of any one hunk I decided to feature a tasty selection of the sexy young men that have made Australian soap operas so watchable!

For me it seems that American "daytime dramas" tend to feature unbelievably glamourous and deliberately 'good looking' people doing the impossible and the British equvalents are full of down-to-earth folks reputedly doing everyday things. Both may, of course, include particularly attractive actors, but the Aussies seem to have cornered a special little niche; young and pretty (but not artificially so) people going about 'reasonably' ordinary lives - though with a rather high unexpected catastrophe quotient (they are 'soaps' after all!).

The two major shows in the UK are Home and Away and Neighbours, which seem to constantly vie with each other to present the prettiest cast - and I ain't complaining! For this month's "Dish of the Month" I tried to present a representative selection of past and present favourites, in this archive though I've had to be much more selective. However, there are plenty more in my collection, so if you've got a special favourite I haven't included let me know and I may just be able to do another Australian spectacular Dish of the Month

There doesn't seem to be a great deal of Web coverage of these delightful young fellas, but some very good soap sites have been put together, especially: Aussie soaps which is a great starting point for these programmes and many other Aussie delights. There is also a very impressive site dedicated to Home and Away.

Christian Slater has always been one of those actors who rather confused me! When first saw him, in the likes of Name of the Rose and Heathers, he was a modestly handsome young man who sort of took my fancy.

Not pretty, but having 'distinctive' good looks and exuding a confidence and a certain sexual magnetism, I was quite happy to make an effort to see his work. However as the years progressed, the attraction diminished, as a simple lust object he couldn't compete with the likes of River Phoenix, Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt or Stephen Dorff. To counter this, I cannot deny that he has produced (despite one or two dubious choices) some eminently watchable movies.

It may be thoroughly manipulative and predictable, but soppy ol' queen that I am, I reckon my personal favourite has to be Untamed Heart, and according to a poll on the Definitive Christian Slater site I'm not alone. In most of his films, he certainly seems to be willing to work at his characters and is always worth the ticket price. Even in otherwise unlikely projects such as Gleaming the Cube he attacks his roles with gusto and commitment to provide the audience with something worth watching.

He may not be the pretty young thing anymore, and 'attractive' is not a word I'd use for some of the pictures from his latest films, but I'm pretty confident that quality performances, such as in Murder in the First still make him worthy of our attention.

Although there are some excellent Web sites devoted to Christian, I haven't been able to find that many good quality images of the man, so this months selection may be a little less impressive than previous collections.
